Five Facts About Raiders of the Lost Ark

Straight from Entertainment Weekly, here’s five facts, you probably didn’t know about Raiders of the Lost Ark:

1. Tom Selleck was originally cast as Indy, but Magnum, P.I.’s producers wouldn’t release him from his contract. Fortunately, Harrison Ford swung in to fill the role.

2. The biplane in the opening of the film has the identification letters OB-CPO, a shout-out to Star Wars‘ Obi-Wan Kenobi and C-3PO. Also, in the Well of Souls, C-3PO and R2-D2 are among the figures on the wall of Egyptian hieroglyphics.

3. Debra Winger reportedly turned down the Marion Ravenwood role that eventually went to Karen Allen.

4. The movie’s funniest scene came about by accident. During the shoot in Tunisia, Ford caught dysentery and was too ill to film a long fight scene with an Egyptian swordsman. ”Let’s just shoot the f—er,” he said to Spielberg. So they did.

5. The monkey in the film was so uncooperative that hidden wires were needed to wrangle it around the set.

Believe

The title for the new X-files Movie is official! The X-Files: I Want to Believe will be coming to a theater near you in a few years or so. For long-time (and I mean long time) X-Filers will recognize the title from Fox Mulder’s (played by David Duchovny) poster in his basement office.

According to creator, Chris Carter, the movie will deal more with Fox’s problems with his faith, rather than tracking down aliens.

“The reason we’re even making the movie is for the rabid fans, so we don’t want to insult them by having to take them back through the concept again.”

New X-Files Movie Under Lock and Key

42.jpg

Chris Carter really isn’t into giving sneak peeks or even giving any kind of hint as to what will happen in the new X-Files Movie. We reported last time that the title was already leaked out into the press. This has somewhat nerved the creator in further tightening his lips.

Entertainment Weekly has been trying to interrogate the man, but he just won’t budge:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So, if you could just tell me what happens in the movie then I’ll be on my way.
CHRIS CARTER: I’m going to just tell you. No, I can’t, because we want to preserve the element of surprise. It’s more fun. And, in this day and age when you can’t preserve it, it makes it even more fun when it’s preserved.

What was the most extreme security measure you took this time around?
We only showed [the script] to certain crew members. And those crew members had to go into a room where the script was taken out of a locked cabinet, and then we had video cameras trained on them so they couldn’t use their phone or take pictures of anything.

Are you serious?
